Oh well. > Even if I decide to just use the HSQL engine of Base, can I setup up OOo/Base > on XP as a server, administrate and use it from a Linux station and have > other > XP stations be able to access and update the database. Therefore you must install HSQL as a server. you can't do it with the internal one Ah. My current install is an Ubuntu deb style package install which didn't include server option. But the OOo.org site doesn't seem to mention running Base as a server much, I found one reference that if you are doing a unix install from sources and want server capability, to run a command like 'setup/net' or something from the setup directory of the sources. Do you think I will need to re-install from scratch to get a server or can I enable the install that I have? > My applications are are fairly simple, such as inventory (being able for > respective > stations to add/delete contents of in real-time). The important criterium is how many clients do you want to use. Only one or more. Prolly 3 to 5 clients or individual stations/machines will need to access the database without interferring with each other. Base may be able to do all of this without MySQL as the applications are pretty simple and not very intensive. I just haven't found much info regarding Base/HSQL as a server on a lan. I hope I understand you right Yes, thanks!;) --Paul T. Mechtilde -- Dipl. Ing.
