Hi,
that is a wonderful example. Even a relation between tables is there.
For international users, it may be worth to expand the scope a bit from
the current Europe theme.
You find a first draft in
http://www.rhenschel.homepage.t-online.de/ExampleDatabaseVersion0.zip
I have removed the boolean "EU member" and add another boolean field. Up
to now there are only European countries, but it is no problem to change
it and add others too. Which would you like? Up to now there are no
queries, views or reports, because I think before working on that, we
first must decide about the table structure.
And I would like to show some screens of how a table populated with some
data really looks, and how a query and some different forms can look,
and then the look of the new reports possible by the Sun Report Builder
extension.
Screen shots for the application help or for an article in the Wiki? May
such screenshot have a Windows window title bar? If not, I would need
some help with that, because I haven't got a Linux OOo.
Something like "if you would want a presentation of your data that looks
like this, then design a form/report/whatever else".
OK, that must be part of a guide. But first we should decide about the
database (URL see above).
The zip-file contains a folder with the flags [up to now only 1 :) ]. Is
it possible, that OOo can get the Flag-theme from StarOffice-gallery? If
yes, those flags can be used and the database would not need its own one.
I have put a lot of text in the forms. Of cause you can get forms in the
simple style, which is possible with drag&drop from the data browser.
That would make it easier for translation ;)
Let's discuss this to find a good solution for all users who need more
practical help.
If you look at the page hits in the German Wiki, you see that there is a
need for such a guide. The question is, how much can/should go into the
application help and what to the Wiki.
kind regards
Regina
