If not I will try, since I suggested you ask for our help

that would be wonderful. I dream of a sample database that is either installed together with the OOo software, or which can be easily downloaded from a web site.

I think a good idea will be to have this database in the "presets" [$OOO_INST_DIR$/presets/database/], just like now we have the biblio.odb. This database will be installed for every user of the PC. This way, we make sure that every user knows what the help files are talking about (Besides, it would be very easy to link from the help file to that database; here by "link" I mean a link that opens the ODB document).

This would ask for an HSQLDB database as a single Base file, with some tables, queries, forms, and reports included, as well as some records with data. Just the basics, no special functions, so that the normal user can easily inspect the database and learn what is possible with Base. In the application help we can then refer to this database whenever an example is more appropriate than an abstract syntax diagram ;-)

In the past we had a sample database installed together with StarOffice (version 5.2 if I remember right). It was a "my movies collection" type of database. That may lead to some copyright problems with the records, so a more neutral topic should be chosen.

Bye and luck,
