I was looking at the dba.openoffice.org tips for MySQL but I found
the following:
via JDBC: (These steps are only valid for the MySQL connector)
Get the newest JDBC driver from www.mysql.com
Start OpenOffice.org
Goto Tools/Options/Security
press the browse button near "Classpath" and browse for the *.jar
file(s) of your driver.
Restart OpenOffice.org
Open the data source administration dialog (Tools/Data Sources...)
Press the button "New Data Source", in the name field, enter a valid
name like "MySQL JDBC", and keep "JDBC" as type.
Enter the data source URL mysql://host:3306/DataabaseName
1st thing is that I dont see any Classpath under
Tools/Options/Security (shouldn't be Java instead)
2nd Tools/Datasources (is this within writer to display the
datasources or is it Tools/openoffice.org base conections)
It is
Tools>Options>Java
I agree so should I report this as a issue for dba.www?
http://dba.openoffice.org/FAQ/specific.html#connectmysql
Well as far I know the whole FAQ page at OpenOffice.org is pretty well a
thing of the past. It is all the wiki now, isn't it. Those instructions
at the main site as for version 1.x I believe.
I just checked for instructions on s the wiki, didn't see any, just an
almost blank page ( curious )..someone needs to update that I suppose.
So more reason for an issue :)
I might blog this experience later this week, since I CC my content I
guess it can be used as a doc. We'll need to get the site admin on to
commit the changes.
