I have some hope that the dialog layouting API which Jan Nieuwenhuizen is working on currently will make it into 3.0. According to Christian Lippka, a colleague of mine who follows this development more closely than I do, chances are good that in 3.0, you'll be able to create a dialog which layouts its controls automatically, taking into account text lengths and the like ...
