Hi Andrew,
Now if the dialog mechanism just had a way to layout control with
relative locations...accounting for the different string lengths is a
real pain...and makes the UI appear to have odd spacings in certain
languages..
I have some hope that the dialog layouting API which Jan Nieuwenhuizen
is working on currently will make it into 3.0. According to Christian
Lippka, a colleague of mine who follows this development more closely
than I do, chances are good that in 3.0, you'll be able to create a
dialog which layouts its controls automatically, taking into account
text lengths and the like ...
Wundervoll,. that will be a big help with my next lapse into linguistic
dementia ... Well, Norwegian is in the mix now also.
Well the language support in the dialog designer is pretty nice however -
Turns out you can enter the strings for German(Germany) then set this as
the default language in the editor. Now open the add language dialog and
tick mark German(Belgium), German(Austria) etc and it copies the German
stings for each new langauge - then repeat the process for Spanish(
Spain ), adding Spanish( Argentina ), Spanish(Bolivia) etc...when all
done just set the default back to English( US ). Very nice.
Granted this may not be perfect but I still think German(Whatever) is a
better choice if the user's local is German( Belgium) then
English(US)...but that is just my opinion..Ya
