Hi Alex, >> If it is a feature now will the engine be part of the OO.o distribution? > Well if it is, then it has been reintroduced rather surreptitiously ;-) > because AFAIK Adabase support was officially withdrawn from OOo quite a > while ago.
Not really. OOo always shipped with a driver for connecting to an Adabas D database (which you might consider being justified by the fact that there is a free download version of Adabas D available, which is limited in the number of concurrent users and the maximum DB size). However, StarOffice shipped with more: it included a version of the Adabas D engine itself, and it included an extended version of the driver, which also provided some UI for creating databases (which wasn't possible with the OOo version of the driver). Now recently, all which happened so far is that the extended driver version was moved to the OOo code. Well, everything said here assumes that the "AdaBase" in Drew's original mail is a type, and was meant to be "Adabas D". If it wasn't, then I in fact need to install an OpenOffice.org DEV300 build ASAP, to see who added a new database type there ...
