Hi,

this is what I found when trying m37 the first time, on Mac, leopard:

- at first startup everything was extremely slow, then I was prompted for an extension update (even before I could start any program). The system tried to download a french dictionary extension and hung completely on that process. Some window-frame opened on the top pane of my display hiding anything else behind it, e.g. the taks-manager, which I tried to open to kill OOO....

- after this first eperience things went quite smooth so far, second startup was a lot faster than the first, even after a complete restart of the system.

- Base:
- syntax highlighting in editor is there, but it's still about in the state it was, when I tried it the last time in an inofficial build: - the default font is some non-proportional serife, which is fine. If you open the options menu and go to fonts - without actually doing/changing anything and then return to the sql-editor-pane, the font changes to a helvetica-like proportional sans-serife, i.e. the default setting does not survive a visit to the options/fonts menu. After you manually set a font for the editor pane things are fine.
- bracket-matching still does nothing on the mac
- a quite serious problem in the sql-editor is a displacement of the cursor when I postion it with the mouse. When I click on a certain position of the pane something a bit above gets selected. So if I want to place the cursor in a row and click it somewhere close to the top of the row, the row above will get selected. This is particularly irritating when using the record selectors, which are very small bubbles on the Mac. I thought for a while they were not working untill I realized that you have to click them quite a bit below their placement in the window, to get them functional. - when right-clicking a query in the selection-list, the context-menu opens somewhere close to the preview block at the right bottom, not at the mouse cursor. - one of the features I was hoping for most, keyboard-shortcuts for cursor-navigation in the sql-editor seem not to have been integrated yet - at least they don't work at all. - the reoprt-builder 1.05 refuses to install with the argument: system dependency OO3.0 not fullfilled - the older version 1.03, one is directed to when downloading from the star-office extensions-page, can be installed. Once you install the 1.03 version, extensions-autoupdate will remain in an endless loop, reporting that there are updates to be installed and then telling that the report-builder-update cannot be installed because of that dependeny problem. You can only cancel the update and are remembered a bit later, that extension-updates are available.

- the autorecovery-problem is still the same in m37 as in 3.0: the autorecovered file presented to you as working copy is a temporary file that gets discarded after you quit OOO. All work saved in that file is gone. In my opinion this is a very serious issue! A safe way of simulating a crash is killing the application, so its easy to try...

- A little annoyance that has always been there, not a bug, but something that can maybe be enhanced easily: when you run a query and receive the table display of the first bunch of your data, a toolbar appears, called table data. It is not possible to move that toolbar into the top row for toolbars, it requires its own row. This is quite annoying as there is a lot on display in little space and this toobar uses far place more than necessary... Yes, I can drag the toolbar out of the window all together (although with difficulties), but I'd prefer to put it in the first row, and maybe many users would expect that to be the case automatically.

m37 seems to be quite useable though, so I'll try to stick with it and report if I find more stuff...

Best
Rainer
