Hmm, cannot reproduce: OpenOffice.org 3.0, Windows XP, JDBC driver: 8.3-603.jdbc3. Table: 1 ID column (integer, primary key), 20 VARCHAR(50) columns. 40000 records, each column in each row having a random 20-character string. Time to jump to the last record after the table has been opened by double-clicking it: about 12 seconds. Still worth an performance issue (since displaying the complete data in NetBeans takes much less), but far away from the "several minutes" you mentioned. What are you doing differently?
