I thought someone reported using mate on IRC and said it worked well... The major hurdle is those two video cards; it will probably require some specific xorg configuration to make sure one gets used and not the other.
So, I think it's possible you can both get the hardware support you want and (nearly) the software you want under DragonFly... but the only way to find out is going to be by trying it, and it's going to eat some hours.
