Are you wondering why it adds ignore patterns, or why it adds *the same*?
Maybe it should tell whether an identical pattern is already defined ...
but there are many patterns with the same result, so that may not make
sense.

I was thinking just detection of exactly identical pattern strings. Such as not adding "./var/spool/fsvs" to the file when the same string "./var/spool/fsvs" is already there.

2) If I'm in /etc and do a "fsvs status" command, why does it assume
that I meant "/"?  Would it make more sense for FSVS to act like SVN
where it takes its cues from the current directory?
