Originally, I removed the current LO environment before installing the beta version, as advised in installation instructions.
Perhaps should these be a bit adapted?
Followed what you recommended, removed completely version 3.4.0 beta 4 and
reinstalled bundled Ubuntu pakages from Synaptic.
Apparently, seems to run fine (except Base), I will carry on investigating
deeper.
The only issue that you are likely to encounter is the
desktop-integration deb (menus):

You can overcome this by not installing& creating a menu item to open
/opt/libreoffice/soffce
I don't fully understand what you meant here: should I do something special with LO Ubuntu set up? Or should I just skip the
"desktop-integration" deb completely while beta installing?
Could you please also guide me about the way to launch beta modules without having corresponding menu items? Should it be done
systematically through a terminal session?
