Also, if you are fairly certain there is not any "extra" formatting in the 
information you are copying, then just use paste. I think the Paste Special 
item came 
about because so many people started pasting stuff from web pages into 
documents 
(which is really nice) and didn't like what they were getting in their 
documents. 
Course, lots of folks, including myself, didn't understand just exactly what 
the 
command was for when it became available in M$ Office.

Yes, I think you´re right. It´s another thing making pasting very
difficult. When I still tried, I think I was confused all the time
because the option for "unformatted text" kept changing its position in
the pop-up window so that many times, I clicked on an option I didn´t
want and hit enter and then had to undo and start over.

Then two options may be needed:


1.) default pasting type

2.) warn or ask or silently fall back to another option in case there´s
    nothing to paste which is of the default type
