Hi :)
MS Office supports the older ODF formats, the 1.0/1.1 whereas the default for 
LibreOffice is 1.2 (Extended).  You can change the default for LibreOffice by 
clicking on

Tools - Options - "+ Load/Save" - General 

About halfway down the page is "ODF format version" with a drop-down that you 
can change to 1.0/1.1 by scrolling the drop-down list back upwards 2 places.

I would save the spreadsheet as ods, since this is the native format of LibO / 
OOo. MS Office should be able to open those files as well, since MS claims to 
have support for the OpenDocument File format. But to be on the save side, you 
can save your files again as xls before sending them to the other people.
