For whatever reason, when Sun first made OpenOffice.org open source
and perhaps before then, /opt/ was used as the location of the installed
OOo software for Linux. The path for templates were set then, and they
have not been changed for OOo nor LO. (I don't know if any of the Linux
distributions for LO have a different path.) So, for most if not all of
the Linux computers, the LO 3.4.5 paths are
~/.libreoffice/3/user/template
/opt/libreoffice3.4/basis3.4/share/template/common.
(For earlier version of LO 3.4.x, I think basis-link was used in place
of basis3.4.)

ISTM ?? What does this mean? (Suggestion: sometimes using an
anagram causes no problems, but sometimes others may not know what it
means.)
