No, libreoffice is not microsoft!

If you want to use microsoft, go and buy their software.

It depends on the OS, if Linux you can not use MSO because there is no MSO version available. Also, it was not stated how the file was obtained or created. I use Linux and often must open a MSO file so accurate file conversion is always a potential, nagging issue.

Also, unstated but implied is whether a Windows/MSO machine is even available.

Mac users may also be in the same position, no MSO installed or available and they have a file they need/want to open that is in a MSO format.

Stop assuming the user has access to MSO, many do not. And many are sent or must download files in MSO formats because others are too lazy/stupid to provide alternate formats.
