Reading the thread again I understand
Vytas' problem is that he loost the chart completely. I did not loose the chart by converting from ods to xls but lost the functionality. This means I could not change in the xls chart and could not change layout of the chart in the xls version

I feel it would make LO Calc more attractive to new users if the chart functionalities of ods could all be converted into xls or even better into xlsx.

Hi :)
No, and i doubt it's going to be easy to ask for help from the MS world. There
might be a few that know how to edit the Xml files inside the XlsX container
but trying to get those people to help or even finding them could prove to be
difficult!

Can you not just export as Pdfs? They wouldn't be editable but if they need to
be edited it could be given as a good reason for your recipients or colleagues
to install LO alongside MS Office. There are, inevitably, good advantages to
each. I have both even though i often slate the MS one and tend to avoid it
where possible.

Apols and regards from
Tom :)

Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] Loosing chart on exporting ods to xls

I am afraid that it is not possible to convert ods charts into xls charts. I
observed this effect several times.

Does someone has experience with xlsx files?

I am running LO 3.5.6.2 on XP SP3

Hi,

I have an ods spreadsheet in which I have a simple line chart. When I convert
it to a xls file all the data gets exported however the chart is missing. Is
there something special I need to do with the Chart so that it gets retained in
the xls file? Providing client with a PDF is not an option as they need to be
able to manipulate the data.

I am working on a computer running Windows XP an using LibreOffice Version
3.4.4.

Thanks,

Vytas
