Okay, I got that. But it doesn't enter the number a superscript, it
enters it the same size as the text. I have to highlight the number,
right click on it, then select Style > Superscript. This is a little
better, but still tedious.
That's the whole solution, I think - albeit with the long-standing
bug you describe. It's a simple matter, though, to add the
superscript effect - best done using the standard "Footnote anchor"
character style.
