Now my testing environment is a vanilla install of opensuse 13.2 
RC1 with latest LO. There is surely a mysql connector shipped 
with (version 1.0.2). I deleted this one and added your version 
1.0.4 manually.
At first sight it makes no difference to me - testing against 
mysql-server 5.0 here at job.

It is kind of weird that some of my forms (made with LO 4.1) are 
unusable, because some textfields are shown as numerical values 
(mostly "0").
The table views are almost correct, anyhow - better than 
yesterday at home...

I don't know wether the mysql connector itself is involved in 
this problem...

I will do further tests with mariadb at home...
