I think you are doing everything well. I don't see any wrong behaviour. When you set a reference to a cell via CTRL+K, you are not referencing "a floating cell", but a specific cell in a sheet, doesn't matter if you gave it a name. What you need is to define a Database Range (Data -> Define range), setting also the flag "insert or delete cells".
