What you did wrong was to use Windows :-)
I did a Web search for 'libreoffice MFPlay.dll'. Apparently (1)
LibreOffice recently started to use Microsoft Media Foundation APIs for
video playback; and (2) those API's (the .dll files that you're missing)
are not included in some versions of Windows, including some available
in Europe, because of antitrust legalities. Apparently it's fairly easy
to obtain and install the missing things.

Todat it gave a pop-up suggesting I should update LO.. The advised
version 25.x+n had already been overtaken by newer ones, of which I

When I did, it won't start, complaining on the absence of MFPlat.dll,
MFPlay.dll and MFReadWrite.dll. Possibly reinstalling could cure it,
which I did: first a repair (no dice) then removed and reintalled from
scratch (no dice either).
What did I do wrong?
