I can fix it if it's clear it's the right thing to do, but it looks like
a more general issue with list-valued options, and a bit of a mess.
Only -q seems to be treated specially by qsub.  Also other programs use
a different mechanism for processing the options, for some reason, with
-M explicitly handled differently.  Any strong opinions?
