Hello, all,
I built GE2011.11 on OSX 10.6.7, using -spool-classic -no-java -no-jni
-no-secure, and managed to get sge_execd running in the foreground by setting
SGE_ND=1 (I'll worry about making sge_execd work with Apple's launchd framework
later).
However, when I submit a job, the shepherd fails with this error message:
"can't set additional group id (uid=0, euid=0): the user already has too many
group ids"
This is apparently a known problem with recent versions of OSX and Active
Directory. Basically, OSX reports the maximum allowable number of supplemental
groups as 16, but AD can somehow exceed that limit (my account has 30+ groups).
When GE tries to add a GID for process tracking purposes, it fails. The only
workaround I've seen mentioned is to manually prune the number of groups on the
account; that is not an option for me.
In this thread: http://www.digipedia.pl/usenet/thread/11271/916/ I see mention
of a possible patch. Did this patch ever get written? Or is there a different
solution?
I'm happy to act as a guinea pig for possible fixes (fixes that don’t involve
altering AD's behavior), if that's helpful. Thanks,
John
