Dave, if I recall correctly, you have not worked in the industry before. I have to tell you that any code, articles, and presentations written during employment are owned by the employer, not by the original author. This rule applies to most companies in the states, like IBM, Sun, Microsoft, etc...
I exchanged emails with Dan before the holidays, and I can check with Dan, but most likely he can't do anything as it is a property of Sun/Oracle. Unless Dan explicitly asked Sun for an exemption (DanT was hired to work on Grid Engine, so it is questionable that his boss would have grant him the exemption), then only Oracle can give you the license to redistribute the presentation.
