Those settings affect whether the global login scripts are sourced or
not, and which command line interpreter is used to execute the script,
and adding to the mix, "login_shells" did not include bash in SGE
6.2u5, but is included in GE 2011.11. So if the nodes are using local
config, then make sure that all the configs are the same.
Also, by "fail", you mean fail to start, fail to run, or incorrect output?

Failure was that user's .bashrc were not being read. In each user's account,
I have it sourcing a system wide shell script which sets certain things up,
like our module environment configuration and so nothing was being setup.
