However, I tried modifying one of our execution hosts via "qconf -me <hostname>". And although SGE reported the host hostname was modified in the exechost list, if I run the qconf command again it still show the FQDN for the host. It's as if the hostname gets reverted after my change. Does that seem normal? Should I be doing something else to remove the domain names from the hosts?
