Hi,

Should it not be a standard about how the query is returned
?
I mean, it would be quite difficult when a server has an
IPV6
Interface, but refuses to return that address as well, when
given an A query, whereas other might return the same.

Agreed, unwanted replies about V6 address slows down
packet delivery, but you might want to use V6 for its better
features (encryption and routing efficiency come to mind)
with respect to V4, once you know that remote machine
has a V6 Interface.

Regards,
Sarang.

        OS/implementation specific.
