Hi all I was trying to set up a dns server on linux (on our ipv6 network) here so i could enable my ipv6 client (a Mac running OSX 10.3) to browse sites on the Internet2 (or other sites connected to 6bone)
I used the root cache servers file (i.e. that standard named.ca used normally for ipv4 dns query). But so far testing the thing only succeeds for a few sites (mainly the UK academic community and others like www.kame.net iperf.ipv6.wiscnet.net ipv6.sjtu.edu.cn ) However most others like www.6bone.net could not be resolved. Now when i tested using a known ipv6 cache server (2001:4830:CC1E:1:: ) directly with command host -t aaaa www.6bone.net 2001:4830:CC1E:1:: it worked. What does this indicate ? What's the best way to test out the dns ipv6 hosts query? PM Wong.
