Assuming you use UUIDs (in A and B) and mix:referenable on C:

    Node C;
    Set<Node> allNodesThatReferToC = new HashSet<Node>;
    for(PropertyIterator iter = C.getReferences(); iter.hasNext(); )
      allNodesThatReferToC.add(iter.nextProperty().getParent());
