Versioning - How to cancel checkout

Hi!

How can I cancel checkout without creating a new version?
Is it possible at all?

As I did not find any methods to do so, I assume the correct way would be to
checkin and restore afterwards.

Is that correct?

Any help would be highly appreciated.
