Jena bindings

Basically what I'd like to try is connecting to the database without the 
overhead of HTTP requests (right now I'm sending HTTP requests to Fuseki).
Is there any way to do this? It looks like this could be possible with Java 
only, so I was wondering if there were any bindings for other languages such as 
PHP or Python?
