Hi,

As far as my understanding of Kannel SMS Gateway, it can not replace or act
as SMSC. Whereas it is simply acts as Gateway (Interface) between GSM
Network and IP Network. A simple architecture will be like shown below


SMS Apps -------> SMS Gateway -------> SMSC ------> MSC (GSM Network)
                                            ^
                                            |
                                            |
                                            |
                                GSM Mobile
                                          ~~
                                       ~~~~~
                                 ~~~~~~~~~
