Youre trying to build the documents, which is really problematic procedure which relies on many programs that are not necessarily installed on a stock system. make it easier on yourself, and use --disable-docs in ./configure so as not to build the documents. use the documentation on the web site, and if you must - I can send you the documentation from my build. it took me over two months to understand enough about the documentation build process to get it to finish successfuly. I can hazard a guess and say that docbook packages are not installed properly on your computer. also, even after the everything was installed properly on my system, I had to modify one of the system's DTD catalogs to get it to work. I can't remember exactly which.
