mmm... cant seem to get minicom to connect to 6150 on any speed with any
flow control (hardware/software/off) with either 8data/no-parity or
7data/even-parity.

i've been doing a fair bit of research on 6150s and there seems to be some
debate whether a 6150 will behave as a GSM modem. many people claim to be
able to do it across infra-red but i havent managed to find anyone able to
do it via a cable (and some people saying its impossible).

has anyone managed to get a 6150 to talk to kannel or
minicom/other-terminal-type-program using a cable? i even tried plugging it
into a windoze machine and running hyperterminal with no success.

so how does gnokii do it? surely that must open a connection to /dev/ttySX
and send commands/receive data? gnokii works perfectly for me with
port=/dev/ttyS1 and model=6110 (but i really dont want to have to run a cron
job every 30s to get the msgs off the phone, format the output and fire off
a http request per msg!)

i've also found quite a few entries in the kannel mailing lists with people
unable to make their connection to a nokia phone. minicom is often
suggested and the thread finishes (not sure if that's because they got it
working or gave up at that point).

really confused as to how gnokii will work and minicom & kannel wont!

please help,

wilf
