Hi Dave. I'm in Ireland, which would likely have a similar setup in the UK - same companies anyway. I'm using O2's SMSC via SMPP, which works well with Kannel. Having some issues with delivery receipts, but haven't fully investigated that yet. Due to be connecting to Vodafone in the near future.. Shouldn't be a problem.
You don't necessarily need a direct connection to an SMSC for 1000 messages a week - you could always send via a mobile phone/modem. Hope that helps Dave.
