I don't have much idea about this but this is what i know.
 
According to GSM 03.40 specs, every sms that mobile operator will submit will have a message reference and the destination num. Now i assume if both of them holds same for any 2 of the messages i can treat them as parts of the same BIG message.
 
Not sure, if kannel does it for you or not. Probablt devel-list may have better idea.

I there any way of identifying these multiple messages as belonging to one message, and concatenating them back into one message
