Thanks for the reply and i agree with what you and Tuck has to say about this.
>When i send an SMS to some cellphone, that cellphone shows that the message >has come from 9800011111. >I wish that the recipients see "Navjot" and not "9800011111". <tuck> This isn't possible with most SIM cards. Network operators will most likely not allow you to do that. </tuck> and i have seen it happening, i sent the alphanumeric in my request. SMSC is masking the FROM number set by me and replaces that with mobile number. regards Navjot Singh |-----Original Message----- |From: Gagan Chadha [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] |Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 3:14 PM |To: Navjot Singh; [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Subject: RE: AlphaNumeric Source Number? | | |Hello Navjot, |I have done some R$D on this but was unable to do this. | |Essentially, when we submit across a message to the SMSC, it |accepts the message based on the number and it doesnot mask the |number, this goes beyond their privacy policy... |so essentially only if the SMSC works along with, you can do |something about it else you cant. | |I am also lookking for some way around if possible.. | |Regards |Gagan | |-----Original Message----- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of |Navjot Singh |Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 2:06 PM |To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Subject: AlphaNumeric Source Number? | | |Hi List, | |I have kannel 1.2.1/Linux 8 running perfectly with GSM SIM connected.
