problems with connecting

Hi,
 
 I'm using Kannel 1.3.1 now. As smsc I use Nokia 32 (earlier Nokia 9210). I
have a problem with connecting to a phone.
using minicom everything seems to be ok. modem responds.
 when starting kannel, kannel doesn't get answers from phone. what could be
the problem? 
(configuration in kannels seems to be ok - speed, parity, port...)
 from time to time ... it starts working... but I don't know why :)
