The problem remains with the 1.4.0 version as well.
The thing is that it all works fine and then just
blocks the transmitter channel. I have separate
receiver and transmiter on the same smsc connection.
Kannel conects as a receiver and as a transmiter on
the same port. The receiver (Kannel receives and SMSC
sends - that is transmitter on the SMSC and receiver4
on Kannel) work fine and the other direction blocks.
So I assume that the TCP is fine... Kannel enters a
reconection loop for that channel while keeps
receiveing messages and calls the appropriate services
for them. The problem is that it can not send reply
messages to teh SMSC... 
Please let me know if you have any othwer ideas for
solving the problem...
