Well based on that glowing report, I tried it. It was not so bad, but it would be nice to have a better set of "out of the box" kannel.conf files, for real applications.
I added a generic modem type, and am stuck on a few Multitech ( http://multitech.com/ ) modem AT commands when starting the bearerbox. Anyone have modem configuration files for Multitech that can be contributed to the project? All I find on the listserve is a guy who failed using such a modem.
