Ah, this is a quite old project, I didn't thought that in times of QR-
Codes this is still alive...
Google for "ota bitmap converter". Create the barcode as normal jpg
and convert it to OTA Bitmap. But I'm really not sure if this still
works with modern phones. The screen resolution is so high, that these
old-school pictures are screened so small, that a barcode reader could
probably not read it. If you give it a try, please let me know the
results, but I'm quite sure that QR- or Aztec-Code over MMS will make
you happier ;-) Even traditional barcodes are more efficient when they
are sent by MMS because you can control the size on the screen.

Falko,
Thanks for the response. I was thinking along these line, please see
an extract from Wikipedia
SMS Barcode is an integration between barcode and mobile SMS
service. Built on mobile picture message, the technology allows
sending barcode, supports both 1D and 2D barcode symbologies, to the
mobile unit. The barcode will be displayed through an SMS unit and
the barcode can be scanned by imaging scanners which use optical
sensors or if it is a 1d barcode it can be scanned by generic Laser
Scanners.

You mean Barcodes like EAN? Impossible. You need MMS for this.
In SMS you can only send UTF-8 Chars. Barcodes are not UTF-8...
