Better make also Nikos a hero: you should really consider to switch to
the newest release and it is a real security issue to run kannel as
root!

Hi Falko!
I really think you solved my problem!
I'm working on a test-server and on this test-server the status
request is working fine. the problem is on the customer server.
Now I changed the parameters (for testing) on my test-server
like that:
admin-allow-ip = ""
admin-deny-ip = "127.0.0.1"
then, I started the kannel client again, and voilà I receive the
same error output like on the customer server! (empty output!!)
so, it seems that I have explicit to define which IP are allowed.
I will test it tomorrow on the customer server.
anyway, I'm working since three days on this problem, so I just have
to say that you are my hero!!
THANKS FALKO!

Betreff: Re: problem with http administration
Hello Beatrice,
did you set this configlines inside your kannel-conf:
admin-allow-ip = "127.0.0.1"
admin-deny-ip = "*.*.*.*"
You must also add the server the script is running on (if not the
same
as kannel) into the allow section.

Hello,
I compiled and installed kannel Version 1.4.1 on a Linux (Ubuntu)
Server. The Gateway works fine, I'm able to connect to an SMSC (emi)
and to send all SMS. The only problem that I'm facing ist the http
administration. I've written a litte script which parses the
status.xml file. But when I try to request the status I receive the
following output: "XML handling error: no element found at the
adress : http://localhost:13000/status.xml row nr. 1, column 1: ^."
When I enter http://localhost:13000/status the output is also empty
(blank). (also when I retrieve the source, accessing via firefox)
I don't have a clue where the problem might be? maybe something
about the access rights? I recompiled the gateway, but the problem
is still there.. I'm starting the gateway as root, the cgi-bin/
sendsms?username..... request is woking fine.
I would be veery happy if you could help me, my customer wants to
go online with the gateway next week!!!
any idea???????
thanks!
