Own smsc as Message centre ?

Hi,

sorry for my inquiry, I'm rather a novice yet. I tried to set up a smsc 
but after quite a long time I figured out that my N73 does not support 
the at+cnmi command and therefore cannot be used for that purpose. 
Before I buy a new gsm modem I need to clarify one thing that I could 
not find any answer for on the internet:
Can I use my own smsc as a message centre ? Currently I use the msg. 
centre number +491770610000 wich belongs to a german service provider. 
Will I be able to replace that number by my one one and send sms to that 
mobile/smsc for free ?
