Then it is an SMSc protocol. Kannel supports several SMSc protocols, both
open source and commercial. you can check user's guide for all drivers. No
mention of MAM, though.

MAM is an SMS proprietary protocol, which is needed to connect to Vodafone
Italy SMSC corporate service.
As far as I know Vodafone uses it just in Italy. You can use it for MMSs
too, but we as a company are just interested
in the SMS side, for now.
