... I solved the problem doing ... nothing :)
Voyage Linux (a debian derived distribution for x86 embedded platforms),
start with several tmpfs (one for the logs) and the root mounted read-only.
I tried "wget://localhost:13013/...." and I got the error "Read only
file system..." so I thought it was a Kannel error, but the problem was
that wget couldn't write to the disk! (... I'm feeling very stupid now!)
Trying wget from another computer works fine.

thanks, I was looking right now to the tmpfs volume on Voyage!
The log can be sent trough syslog to a remote log collector.

Hi, thanks for the answer, but I'd prefer to have an all-in-one solution
to prevent depending on other hardware, because in case of failure the
sms gateway MUST send sms alert.
