Some Nokia phones are indeed reported not to support the AT+CNMI command.

In minicon I get ERROR response even for AT+CNMI=? or AT+CNMI? or CNMI=?. I guess it means Nokia 6300 doesn't support those AT commands? I tried activating the sim-memory = true option while skiping the CNMI command but ended up with "couldn't parse all memory locations : 0:''. memory check error" Is there any other option besides CNMI? Anyone gone through with 6300? Can't find much via Google, just people having same issues without posting solutions..
