BB never starts smsbox on its own, this is an option left to the user, if he doesn't want to start smsbox. Besides the only one that knows that an smsbox is connected is the child, which crashes suddenly. Smsbox goes down, not because bb tells it to shutdown, but because heartbeats stop responding. Since there is no sense for smsbox to be up without a bb, it goes down. Read in the UG about --panic-script. Or you can use an external monitoring script, if smsbox goes down to restart it. It seems to me that bearerbox child process crashes for a unknown reason, then kills parent and child smsbox processes, then the bearerbox parent restarts the bearerbox child (what is ok), but the no smsbox process is then started (cause of the WARNING: smsbox_list empty! We need to come back and restart it manually. Is there a possibility to have bearerbox triggers a restart of smsbox? If needed I can provide relevant log and configuration file.
