Jim

This is really helpful and motivating.

I did get both the BTECH-50V2 and V2 handheld to work with CHIRP and this old
iMac [iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
Serial Number: C02WV0A6J1GP, Purchased on October 24, 2018, Running Ventura OS.

I remember that one of them balked a bit, but I managed to get things to
cooperate. The problem was that I had to pack the radio and power supply into
another room.

It would be nice to have the computer available and online when on the radio. I
hope there's no interference.

I wanted to manually get around and do everything before setting up on the
computer. The manuals are ok, it is I who is slow at getting it all together.

WE joined the Deadwood /community group, Upper, Middle, and Lower Deadwood
Creek area. Approximately 100 square miles area. We are on the other side of a
main creek (Lake Creek) and in another unit, The Siuslaw so they are above us.

My initial goal was to enroll half of the first thirty who attended the
original meeting in a Ham program. Some regulars attend most meetings. I failed
in a big way, as no one took any of the free classes offered. So, we went with
some who were promoting GMRS. I got the ticket (WSJI740) and a pair of radios
in an effort to connect with the Coastal town of Florence. They have a com
network. We are working on it. I am the student now, this is keeping me
occupied.

I appreciate the reply and support.

Thanks.
