...
linux distros are more 'powerful' than windows .. they work
.....
strawman - i don't think anyone did argue with you on that.
?? i don't think so either
(the ?? marks are for 'strawman' .. dunno what it connotes here)
doesn't generally
extrapolate to the belief that any linux distribution is 'powerful'
i wrote "linux distros are more 'powerful' than windows" ..
not about linux distros being more/less powerful
why vmware ?
so that 2/3/4 distros can be run on the same h/w and checked out
for comparing the speeds, capabilites among them on the same h/w
you miss the point or worse, don't want to get entangled with it.
i'll opt for the 'worse' .. i don't intend to get entangled with 'it' or
other(s)
BOSSLinux has not been a good citizen in the world of FOSS. Now, I have
no reason to ask why they choose to be what they ended up being ?
neither do i have any reason to ask anyone anything .. i am neither against
nor 'for' BOSSLinux
What I have all the more reason to query is - why is it difficult for you
to
comprehend that re-inventing the wheel isn't how community operates ?
not clear what is 'difficult for me to comprehend' .. i am not onto
re-inventing
nor onto how the community operates .. i AM onto 'working' towards doing
things .. meetings, small steps, reviewing, etc
4. a response .. 'older hardware' is not better .. newer distros
have some drivers missing for 'older hardware' .. i need both
confirmation and/or denial on this (mis)understanding .. if i did
indeed misunderstand
again - missing the point or, worse ...
no missing, no worse here .. i was NOT talking about BOSS having
drivers for older h/w .. i WAS talking about newer distros sometimes
discarding drivers for old h/w components .. and therefore older distros
being useful on older h/w .. newer distros not recognizing some devices
making them in need for manual intervention to set paths for drivers, etc
if BOSSLinux does indeed contain
drivers for any hardware that is not upstream, prudence demands that it
would work out a zillion times well if it is pushed upstream.
producingoss.com is a site that is highly recommended before we proceed
to discuss more on this.
this discussion needs to end .. there is nothing to discuss about BOSS or
its atttibutes .. i have no for/against vote for BOSS .. it has an intention
to
support itself, its included apps in 22 indic languages .. it will be nice
if all
other distros do that too
maybe we can learn from him to bring our tiny world of
friends closer to the spirit of working together for common good)
sweet but naive. the easiest thing to talk about is 'ego'. the hardest
thing is to admit that Open Source means working 'with' and not
'without' the community.
i'll pass over all adjectives of personal nature .. sweet, naive, easiest,
hardest, 'admit' .. 'with' .. 'without' .. etc .. these are best dealt off
list
admitting that is a step forward, trying to brush that aside with
arguments that are not rational are a general act of being cute.
english sometimes confuses more than it clears .. i am unable to
comment on something which i couldn't understand .. even at 56yrs age
i need to learn quite a lot
keep up the good work guys .. this lug looks like it is going to go places
..peekay
