If the problem still persists, do bring one of the vcd's back here at durgapur. you told on phone that those vcds run perfectly on your laptop in fedora, *is* some hope. Need to look, you told data-cd/dvd is working on that machine, and those particular vcds won't in fedora. If possible, try some completely different vcd straight from market, might help to reproduce the problem.
